Getting started with Transifex and WPML

To send content for translation to Transifex install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with Transifex via WPML

Connecting Your Website to Transifex

First, you need to connect WPML with Transifex. Part of this very simple process is to request your Transifex credentials.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to Transifex, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from Transifex

Transifex does not provide translation services directly. Transifex does have translation partners though and you can order translations within Transifex directly. Each translation agency offers translation services in a variety of languages.

Receiving completed translations

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

Canceling translation jobs

As stated above, Transifex does not provide translation services directly. However, once an order is submitted, the corresponding vendor starts working on the order asap so in case you need to cancel an already submitted order, you need to reach out to the support team at support@transifex.com and they will coordinate with the corresponding vendor and cancel the part of the order that hasn’t started yet.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use Transifex to translate the rest of your site.
