I require some paid services of a couple of good programers that i know can put some special things into this site to make it even better. I know these programmers around in my web design & programmers world and know that the amount paid will not be nearly as much as normal paid commercial work but still they need something! We are currently looking for immediate support of $1,000 which will help greatly to install and fix a number of things within the site.

This would not be a once off spend! It would dribble into the site with each step $50 hear $10 there another $50 here, over a few months into 2009.

Both a list of the below things and some secret functions that i can install in the site could unroll within this site to really get things going.

We will certainly support you with ’spin offs’ for such support in supporting you in return with what i think will triple your initial investment. We feel it will be a good investment for you! You may either like to give purely as generosity and because you are a good person or you may also wish to splash your services across various sections of the site which can benefit greatly in many way with links to your site and branding of your company of business. 

The site has automated functions. For example if you wanted put a banner with links to a mortgage broker services web page for example i can custom a smart looking professional banner that can magically to pulled into and viewed in every blog or above every forum post and page throughout the site with basically just one click of a button.

That’s the beginning so other things i know i won’t share with you until you are committed to getting involved. But i can tell you they are new and very clever and unheard of in any other sites i know.

I know i will not disappoint with what unique and special things i can bring forward for people in this site using my creative and imaginative ideas that i have that simply just need a little helping hand to support and grow.  We are already experiencing more traffic then i had thought, considering this site has been a free effort with many many days and weeks even years of free coding and web design work leveraging of a power of work from other people what you will get in return is a sense of giving and helping as well as an alliance to support you within the site in many ways.

I can show you exactly where the funds will directly go to and will be spent very sparingly to some vital things needed within the core of the site within a tight budget. Collaboration &Technical Page

This page doubles as the technical page and suggestions box area!

Every web site is a constant work in progress especially ones that are updating and improving all the time. There is always something changing and fine tuning or adding this and tweaking that.

This below lists of information is technical notes etc. Some issues we are working on and some that are wish lists for the future features of the site. Some thing i just have not had the time to get around to installing and some things are just put in the to hard basket for a later date. If you come along and read this up to date page can do some or even one of the things listed below. Then chip in and collaborate.

This page is to guide people, web designer, programmers, helpers,  browsers etc to get a clear picture of what the site is about and may explain any questions you have as well as inviting your help or comments to get involved with the making of the site. The entire site is based on collaborative efforts!

If you fancy your self as a bit of a programmer and you would like to get involved in the project and like what we are doing with the site and what it’s about. However small or big the contribution you are welcome to help  out and your contribution is valued!

Some technical things can go beyond my knowledge so help with plugins and features to the site would be great.

WISH LIST

 

• Decent photo display gallery plugin. One that has the number of thumbs wide & deep columns which when the thumb is clicked on it does not go to another page to view it. It should show the picture larger in the same page above the small thumb nail images.
• Custom banner! 250 pixels branded with icon. I have the icon and the banner image etc just need to photoshop it and cut three images into one!
• How to customise the FEED top right icon in the sidebar and the text link? Change to display a red round feed image and change the text to.  ‘Subscribe to Jaffa’s 10 Year Millionaire Blog Feed‘ or something similar if that’s to long. Found the path to the feed image so far - /public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/inove/img/feeds.gif

• Customise and put in place a google search engine specifically tailored for Australian searches or relevent content.

• Allow site owners to input there own sites that visitors to this site will find search results to. I have the google account code also need a contact form to submit url to email direct to me and i will manually add it to the custom search. This can expand lots more as well anyone that wants to experiment!
• Custom page that loads a digest of say up to 500 tweets in one simple static blog page and or page that updates automatically.  So it presents in the same format as the  “Jaffa’s Calls To Action Today” in the side bar!
• Want to be able to create posts that do not go to the main blog but instead are hiden for things like a regulare email to be stored. Simply the same as the normal blog works but with no blog new posts appearing on top of the existing blog as it will just clutter the main blog with newsletter shit. I want people to acccess the newsletter archive from in a category and i will send them a newsletter directing them to the hiden newsletter page with a link from in the newletter itself  and directing them to the category.
• Wordpress has upgraded and so to has just about every plugin. Entire site could be updated and backed up.
• Remove iNove comic like quotes around each persons comments so that the blog is very simple and just black and white text all uniformed.
• The red (round) Jaffa icon in the forums main page blog/forum/ended up displaying 96px x 96px it is supposed to be 40xpx40px. Damn rebellious jaffas. It is changed buy pressing on the icon itself in the forum admin image must go in the ‘default’ skins directors. Not sure check it out! Also need to be able to change the other icon! It wouldnt work the same way as changing the Jaffas!

To Do List - Up to the minute Done and to Do List! Chip in anytime and give a helping hand if you can!

• Fix current login system. Users have reported that they can register, they get a welcome email with instructions to login with a link but it won’t allow them to login and read article past the  ‘cut off line’ or access the forum! Want a digest of recent up to date forum posts and blog posts in the welcome email say three off each. The same as the way the sites sidebar shows recent blog posts. Simple short and sweet.

Once logined in users should see a, (not the standard welcome, this site is about talking to people we want to say “Hi”. Done this in sidebar-login/sidebar-login.php

• Put subscribers only pages requiring registration access.
• Theme problem occurring with sidebar going into the left column way down below all other content. Only the pages with registration access. Other side it does not happen after a login.

• How to customize the calender icon that appears above all posts, pages etc so that it is not so small and with the month abbreviated in it such as ‘Jun (next line) 20′?  It’s way to small the default iNove Theme Icon.  Got as far as finding a helpful forum thread on this - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/165866?replies=6

• Email and store subscriber emails system. Functionallity to email a simple html email to all  subscribers regularly. No system in place as yet! Need to be able to sen the emails and also store a copy in a catogory, not as recent blog pages to appear in the main blog page but in it’s own catogory with links in the side bar for access. So that basically the only way to find the achived emails is to click in the sidebar archives or subscribe.
• Fix Twitter plugin to check users emails when replying to blog and display there twitter username. http://TwitPWR.com/5tL/
• Need to change ‘Blogroll’ to something else! Maybe ‘Quick links’!
• Top menu goes under other text and is not readable at time! Esp flash embedded swf’s but not all!
• Require to be able to put a blogroll of links either custom or whatever above pages in the iNove Theme in wide pages. It seems it only does them for pages set as links which make the sidebar appear. Do not want the sidebar for some pages which are only set to wide to embed wide flash swf files!

 

 

Some Trivial Information About The Site

What are those colourful little cartoony looking images next to each persons blog post?

They are Wavatars ain’t they great! A Wavatar is a computer generated image unique to your email address. No two people have one of the same in the site.

Each new user to the site is automatically generated a Wavatar by default to display next to there username in the blog posts and the forum posts. Currently it can generate 956,384 different shapes in 57,600 different color combinations for a total of 55,087,718,400 unique Wavatars.  That’s way more then i can imagine needing.

If you feel a little confident to go the next step further you can upload your own image to www.gravatar.com Note that this is a different place and totally different way to put an image next to your post username but is the same size image. It is just a different way to display an image next to your blog post. We have set it up so that if you do make an account at www.gravatar.com. The image you upload will automatically go into your forum posts as well. The beauty of gravatars verses wavatars is that it will magically come into any other blog posts you make at other blog sites outside of this site.

The software in this site will automagically detect if you have a gravatar associated with the email address you use on the site and if so display that and if not it will generate a wavatar instead. Personally i use a gravatar because i use a few one for an email address with a red Jaffa and one with a photo of myself but i really really like the wavatars as well. They look colourfull and pretty and as life to the site.
