Site log in system and upgrades May 2010
Hi Everyone,
I’ve got a couple of announcements to make about the forum and this sites software.
There was movement at the station for the word had passed around. With all the hype of WordPress 3 due to be released any day now activity around the camp has been busy with coders upgrading all over the Country with new plugin upgrades for WP. WP3 with MU capabilities is extra special because it will enable multiple (MU) sites to run from the one administration.
So what’s this mean for property investors in this site? Well, i have upgraded everything in the site so it brings you more good things. But more importantly you can actually post in the video forums now so officially the video forum is open. Come have a look at some videos being adding when you get time.
You have to keep up to date with WP or you risk getting left behind plus because this is such a big thing I’ve given the entire site a complete overhaul.
The forum has had some huge changes to it bringing in tones of new functionality. Some of them listed below.
Log in system overhaul and fixed past problems with users not being able to log and post. This has actually only now opened the forum up for users as of May/2010. Going out to 556 members now!
- Google, Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Yahoo and OpenID account can log in and access all the resources with one central username and with one simple mouse click. To do this navigate to the forum and press the login button. we recommend registering for the forum as well. But the 3rd party log in can be very convenient for some people.
- I made an effort to send out a newsletter email to users. This is the first for the year or was that two years.
- Twitter functionality from within username area of forum to add follow me if member has put there twitter details in the profile.
- Theme upgrade.
- Memberwing site lockdown and access only allowed to registered members now and all pages cut back to only allow guests a tease until registered. This may annoy some browsing but hey we are trying to run a respected community here! Everything if free so no reason not to join.
- Icons changed in forum posts and new more streamlined simple looking skins installed and a whole new icon set with more readability and less confusing for members getting around the forum.
- About a dozen new articles added from the same amount of different blog commentators around the traps. Some interesting reading and News articles with links to dozens of source sites. All Australian.
- Deal two videos and web page created and write up posted.
- Deal three page created in anticipation of my third property in these goals soon to settle. A video will be coming.
- A detailed look at my budget. A page created in the main menu and explanations put on how i was able to start investing in real estate from nothing down.
- User profile will soon have Buddypress profiles with ability to ad there own photo album to there profile. Good for before and after photos of renovations and everything else.
- A fun community page created specifically to display every users Avatar image in one place so you can see every single user and get to there profile easily from there.
- Technical support forum added for suggestions, compliments, complaints, ideas and testing ground for new users etc.
- Can watch YouTubes from right within the actually forum itself and critic the video (that’s if you didn’t already know).
- Added a video of where i got a house for free and a walkthrough of the property.
- Facebook click to ‘like this’ site buttons installed to send anything you find interesting in the forum or posts, articles, video’s etc straight to your facebook main stream. Same for your Tweets.
- Forum members can advertise with a banner jpg or gif image in a signature with text and links off to there sites and services and upload photos. get yourself set up and make a post to get your add out their. This is a first for investor forums in Australia.
- Added caching software to speed up the site loading times and streamlined the front end main page.
- Heaps of other backend small functionality changed but not worth mentioning.
Well there has been a lot going on the last few weeks. Members that have previously tried to access the site i do apologise. It was a log in problem that was out of my control. People have been able to register and get a password but not been able to log in. I have employed a developer to take a look and get it fixed. If you are returning to the site only now! Remember to try the lost your password link and or dig up your old password email that was sent to you. You will only need to enter in your email you used to get a new password issued if it’s been so long you can’t remember.
I suggest once you get your password you log in and immediately change it to something you can remember from in your forum profile link. Then it’s done and easy. Or email me from the contact form in this site and i will set you straight with a log in if you are still having trouble.
Well maybe we will actually get some users in the forum now 
in any case there is not really a need for another forum as there is two main property forums existing in Australia. I mainly set this forum up because it is perfect for putting YouTube video’s and other videos in from other places that most people have not heard of yet. No other property forum is doing this. So i just go about doing that.

One thing that is not mentioned and I’m posting this to test it out, is the subscribe to comments. if you tick it it will give you a follow up email when new comments come to this blog post.
Also notice if you input your website address (if you have one) it will bring a list of links to it that you can select from the Link back to your site once submit a comment! Then people reading these comments can click to follow you back to your site. Nifty hey. I will select a link back to my deal two blog post in this site to show you in this comment how it works.
